'Pittsburgh Post-Gazette' Enters Third Round of Buyouts

By E&P Staff

Published: November 09, 2009 3:11 PM ET

NEW YORK Block Communications is extending buyouts to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to more than 144 managers, the Tribune-Review reported.

The packages are being offered to non-union employees in an effort to trim costs. The paper employs roughly 900 people.

This is the paper's third buyout offer in 13 months, the Tribune-Review reported.

"This measure is similar to ones made by many other strong companies across the country and in this market," Chris Chamberlain, the paper's president, said in the story. "We feel that this move, along with the success of numerous new revenue initiatives, will ensure the continued strength of the P-G."
