NEW YORK Sound Publishing, Inc., a chain of 30 weekly papers in Washington and Oregon, and Seattlepi.com, the remaining online version of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, have forged a content sharing agreement.

Pnwlocalnews.com, the home Web site of Sound Publishing's community and suburban newspapers, will provide content to seattlepi.com readers, according to an announcement of the deal Friday.

"Under the new agreement, the full text of up to 10 of Sound Publishing's most popular stories each day from pnwlocalnews.com will be published on seattlepi.com," the announcement stated. "Sound Publishing headlines will be showcased on the seattlepi.com homepage as well. The stories from Sound Publishing will give seattlepi.com readers a new source for local, relevant coverage of current events in communities outside the city."

The partnership will provide news from the communities of Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Bellevue, Kingston, Port Orchard, Whidbey Island, the San Juan Islands, Bothell, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Marysville, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, Auburn and more.

"We're very excited to have our award-winning community journalism showcased on seattlepi.com," Manfred Tempelmayr, president of Sound Publishing, said in a statement. "Our focus on local news in Puget Sound's suburbs and smaller cities is a good match for seattlepi.com. Seattlepi.com is a Northwest institution and we're pleased that we can play a role in this new chapter in its history."

Added Michelle Nicolosi, executive editor of seattlepi.com: "Sound Publishing's 30 community newspapers offer excellent coverage of the neighborhoods surrounding Seattle, and we're thrilled to be able to offer that coverage to our readers."

Seattlepi.com became the only version of the Post-Intelligencer when the print paper folded in March. It is owned by the Hearst Corporation.
