A media company that owns and operates more than 400 newspapers and hundreds more websites nationwide intends to create as many as 200 jobs in the Austin area by the end of 2014.
Fairport, N.Y.-based GateHouse Media said this afternoon that its new Center for News and Design will open in Austin in late October, providing copy editing and page design services to the company’s print publications, executives said, as well as creating content for its websites.
GateHouse Media says it plans to eventually make those same services available to other news outlets.
What Gatehouse doesn’t explain is how many copy editing and page design jobs will disappear at its newspapers when those duties get outsourced to Austin.
Um…What’s the net on this?
