“Lola,” the comic starring an independent woman in her late 70s, is switching from Tribune Media Services to United Feature Syndicate effective today.
United said the strip, created by Steve Dickenson and Todd Clark, appears in about 125 newspapers.
The wise-cracking Lola character — who lives with her son and his family — is based on Dickenson’s grandmother and aunt, both named Lola. Dickenson has also done the “Dillon” and “Tar Pit” comics, and served as a contributing writer to “Dennis the Menace.”
Clark has contributed to various comics — including “Sherman’s Lagoon,” “Mother Goose & Grimm,” “Frank & Ernest,” and “The New Breed.” His cartoons have also been published by various magazines.
