The Providence (RI) Journal recently licensed the BURT System to manage their Packaging & Distribution activities. The Providence Journal will deploy the BURT System during a project planned for the second and third quarter of 2013. Burt Technologies of Evergreen, CO will facilitate the manufacture and distribution of The Providence Journal, their weekly TMC and a wide variety of commercial publications stemming from Providence Journal partnerships. The Providence Journal will license a suite of BURT System modules that includes Packaging Manager, Line Manager, Distribution Manager, Report Manager and BURT Open Interface.
“The BURT System will improve our efficiencies at managing the wide array of conflicting priorities and production/distribution communications involved in producing and distributing multiple newspapers. The system will also maximize the output of our Production Facility. We are excited about implementing this new system. “stated Wayne Pelland; Senior Vice president of Operations (The Providence Journal Company).
“Providence is the second A.H. Belo property to apply the Burt technology to their operations, and I feel it will add an even higher level of efficiency to the production capabilities of Providence as well as a strong level of reporting that compliments Wayne’s pursuit of operational excellence. This will also provide a common platform for both companies that will further standardize Key Performance Indicators, training initiatives, and capacity utilization” says Bill May of The Dallas Morning News; a Burt customer since 1997.
