The Tribune-Review Publishing Co. will close seven of the 17 weekly titles it operates under its Gateway Newspapers unit.
According to a report in the Pittsburgh Business Times, business owners, government officials, and school district staff members had received word from Gateway that the company would cease publishing the seven papers by next week.
“Reconfiguration of Gateway newspapers” was the reason given for the closing of the newspapers. The only specific date given for the stopping of the presses was Thursday, June 26, when the Penn Hills Progress will close.
The six other newspapers slated for closure are: Woodland Hills Progress, McKnight Journal, North Journal, Coraopolis-Moon Record, Advance Leader and Bridgeville Area News.
