Kim Edwards Promoted to General Manager for Polk County for D-R Media

Tim Smolarick, Vice President and Regional Publisher for D-R Media announced today that Kim Edwards will be the General Manager for Polk County.

Edwards takes over the community newspapers and other projects we have in this market after the sale of the City Magazines, that sale was announced by David Dunn-Rankin, President of D-R Media earlier in the week.

Kim Edwards has been a part of the company 2 1/2 years and brings 36 years of newspaper experience into her new role. Previously Edwards was the Ad Director for the Sun Central Media Group.

Before joining SCMG, Edwards worked for The Observer Media Group and The Ledger in Lakeland, Fla.

Edwards resides in Winter Haven with her husband Gary and is a lifelong resident of Polk County. She has two children and 6 grandchildren that she adores.

Edwards stated “I am passionate about the role a newspaper can play in its community and excited to grow our portfolio of products in Polk County. I believe in serving the community and being a good partner.”

 Smolarick said, “Kim brings a different level of excitement for the newspapers and the community. Polk County is a great place to live and work and we look forward to Kim’s leadership.”
