Streamworks International, a global specialist in delivering frontline breaking news in real-time, has named Bernard Gershon as an advisor. The digital media industry veteran will be joining as an advisor to drive the company’s business development strategy in the U.S.
In this role, Gershon will be working to help Streamworks’ distribute its online video products to the U.S. news market. Gershon will work closely with Markus Ickstadt, Streamworks’ director of news. Ickstadt joined Streamworks in July 2012, after a 10-year stint at the Associated Press.
Gershon is the founder of GershonMedia, a digital strategy advisory firm that consults a range of companies in the digital media space. Gershon was formerly senior vice president and general manager in The Walt Disney Company’s Corporate Strategy, Business Development and Technology group. He is acknowledged as a pioneer in streaming media, going back to 1995. Gershon started ABC’s first streaming media Internet site – ABCRadioNet.com – and in March 2003 he also created and launched ABC News Live, the Web’s first 24/7 streaming news network.
