Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos, the Amazon.com founder who purchased the newspaper in 2013, has named Frederick J. Ryan Jr. as its new publisher. Ryan will replace Katharine Weymouth, who will remain with the paper in an adviser role through the end of the year. Ryan is a former Reagan administration official who played a part in founding the news site Politico. Ryan has been quoted as saying that he plans to keep current Post executive editor Martin Baron.
