Joe Vanderhoof, president and publisher of the Pocono Mountains Media Group, announced today that Brad Bailey has been named associate publisher of the Pocono Record and all properties under the umbrella of the Pocono Mountains Media Group.
Bailey will also maintain his current duties as advertising director but will take a greater leadership role overseeing the day-to-day operations at the media company as associate publisher.
“Like all of us at the Record, Brad is a strong believer in how the Record contributes to our community, and he understands the importance of serving our readers and advertisers as the area’s number one media service provider,” said Vanderhoof, who also serves as president of the Hudson Valley Media Group in Middletown.
Bailey brought a successful track record to the Poconos five years ago, after spending nearly 18 years at The Daily Item in Sunbury, Pa. When tapped to lead the advertising operations in Pocono, he was drawn to the vibrant region and saw even greater potential for the market.
“The Poconos has such a diverse, rich culture. We have a year-round tourist industry and destination shopping. The people here are committed to staying ahead of the curve economically and technologically,” said Bailey. “It was an easy decision to make a commitment to this area, and I’m extremely grateful for the confidence Joe (Vanderhoof) has shown in me. I’m excited to continue our mission to provide the daily historical record for the Poconos and to be active in the communities we serve.”
Bailey is a 1991 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in advertising. In addition to 23 years of newspaper experience, he never lost his desire for continued education. He has participated in the Ottawa Newspapers New Leadership program, attended various programs of the American Press Institute, and graduated from Leadership Susquehanna Valley, a yearlong program to build leaders attuned to the issues specific to local communities. In addition, Bailey attends trade shows and newspaper seminars multiple times per year, and serves on the board of directors for the Interstate Advertising Managers Association.
Bailey is approaching his new role with excitement. “Our content is read and discussed and emailed and shared in so many different ways today. We can deliver the news however our readers wish to consume it, and our online audience doubles our print audience. We are at a point in our industry where more people have access to our news and information than at any other time in our history. I’m excited to take on a greater role moving into an amazing future for the Poconos and the Pocono Record.”
