The Seattle Times Co. has promoted Janice Vallin to executive director of advertising. Vallin joined The Seattle Times in 2011 as the director of major and national advertising.
In this new position, Vallin will lead advertising and sales with the objective to develop and achieve successful sales strategies and foster revenue-generating initiatives for print, digital and mobile platforms.
“I am excited to have Janice in this critical role,” said Alan Fisco, executive vice president, revenue and new products. “Her strong relationship skills combined with her love for creative problem solving makes her a natural for the position.”
Vallin began her career in 1995 at the Houston Chronicle in the advertising and sales department. Following several promotions, she was named retail advertising director. After the Chronicle, Vallin worked for the Austin American-Statesman as the senior multimedia advertising director.
“I could not be more thrilled to serve The Seattle Times and our advertisers in this way,” said Vallin. “I have spent my career helping advertisers harness the power of newspaper audiences to drive meaningful results. The Times is a remarkable news media company with a strong audience and we hope to build on the excellent advertiser results and relationships currently in place and take it to the next level.”
