The Washington Post: Eliza Dennis named an audio producer for Post Reports

Announcement from Director of Audio Renita Jablonski, “Post Reports” Senior Producer Maggie Penman and Supervising Senior Producer Reena Flores:

We’re delighted to announce that Eliza Dennis is joining The Washington Post as an audio producer on the Post Reports team. Eliza is known as a steady hand on deadline with an ear attuned to the voices and sounds that humanize a story.

Eliza developed those skills at NPR, where she has spent the past few years as a producer of “Weekend All Things Considered” and the afternoon news podcast “Consider This.” Eliza field-produced coverage of major news events, including the 2018 midterms, the 2020 Iowa caucuses, the protests for racial justice, and the plight of Ukrainian refugees in Romania and Moldova — where she traveled with host Michel Martin.

Eliza’s portfolio also included managing movie coverage for “Weekend All Things Considered.” She produced segments featuring such actors and directors as Steve McQueen, Alison Klayman and Steven Yeun. (And she wasn’t shy about pitching her arthouse picks!)

Eliza won a National Press Club award for breaking news for coverage of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting in 2018. Her move to journalism started after a career in nonprofit arts management.

She graduated from Carleton College with a bachelor’s degree in studio art. When she’s not working on a new art project, she’s looking for her next good read, live show or swimming hole.

Please welcome Eliza, who starts on Monday.
