The alternative-weekly Colorado Springs Independent has joined 11 media partners to launch a free classified portal covering the area called SoCoAds.com.
In addition to the Independent, the TV station KOAA and 10 radio stations are involved in the venture to battle Craigslist.
SoCoAds will feature automotive, real estate, and recruitment while drawing from national portals like Monster.com, CareerBuilder, HotJobs, AutoMart and eBay.
Placement on the site is free and preferred positioning and other upgrades are available for cost.
“SoCoAds.com will feature only classified ads relevant to Southern Colorado residents,” John Weiss, publisher of the Independent, said in a statement.
