Washingtonpost.com and Newsday.com will use the yellow page and white page directory platform from Switchboard Inc. of Westboro, Mass., under a deal announced this week. Both sites, along with NYNewsday.com, will feature customized Switchboard yellow pages.
The Switchboard system allows users to search by category, location, products, services and brands. The business listings can also be enhanced with links to the newspapers’ editorial content. “Integrating customized vertical yellow pages directories in a number of our online content areas will provide our users with important information about local businesses in their area that can meet their product and services needs,” said Newsday.com General Manager Anthony Wills in a statement.
Sales reps from the newspapers will sell local advertising into their customized directories, sharing those revenues with Switchboard.
