A. H. Belo Corp. has selected the integrated NewsGate solution from CCI, Marietta, Ga., and Aarhus, Denmark, as part of broader efforts to increase efficiency within and across its print and digital publishing processes. The project initially focuses on The Dallas Morning News.
This solution includes fully integrated digital publishing capabilities based on technology provided by online publishing system vendor Escenic, Oslo, Norway.
The NewsGate upgrade “helps us integrate the workflows of publishing a daily newspaper while continually updating a wide array of digital platforms, improving newsroom efficiency,” Morning News Publisher and CEO Jim Moroney said in a statement. The project aims to provide readers with “more engaging” experiences and offer advertisers “the flexibility they need to reach those audiences,” he added.
The NewsGate selection was based in part on its ability to share content and production across several properties. Other features expected to provide efficiencies are bundling of all content items for print and online in NewsGate story folders and dynamically updated story budgets.
Morning News Websites are expected to launch on the new system around early next year, followed by the roll-out of newspaper production in spring.
