Self-syndicated cartoonist Stephanie McMillan is selling one of her “Minimum Security” strips on eBay to raise money to keep abortion safe and legal in South Dakota, according to Comics Reporter.com.
Sixty-six bidders have pushed the price to $1,725 so far — two days before the auction ends.
The “Minimum Security” comic features the work and home phone numbers of anti-abortion Republican legislator Bill Napoli. “He’s a senator in South Dakota who believes women can’t make their own decisions,” says a character in the on-auction strip. So the character tries to call Napoli to ask what dressing she should use on her salad.
McMillan will donate 100% of the winning bid, with half going to Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and the other half to a women’s reproduction-health clinic that might be built on Oglala Sioux Tribe land in South Dakota.
A bill banning abortion was passed this winter in South Dakota.
