About.com, part of The New York Times Co., acquired a comparison health care site for consumers, UCompareHealthCare.com (UCHC). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“By incorporating UCHC into About.com Health, we have added in-depth original content that enriches the user experience and increases engagement on the site,” said Scott Meyer, president and CEO of About.com, in a statement.

UCHC rates hospitals, nursing homes, mammography centers, fertility clinics, and doctors.

UCHC’s founder, Mark Donnelly, and the staff will stay with About.com. Donnelly will report to Marjorie Martin, general manager at About.com Health. The headquarters will remain in Framingham, Mass.

Content on About.com Health is overseen by a medical director and a five-person medical review board and attracts roughly five million unique users each month, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.
