SAN JOSE, Calif.— Nov. 16, 2011 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced that global publishers are now leveraging Adobe® Digital Publishing Suite to publish and monetize applications on the Amazon Kindle Fire. Access to Amazon consumers who are proficient in purchasing content online, and support for in-application purchase of both single issues and subscriptions will enable publishers to accelerate digital circulation, attract premium advertisers and drive lucrative subscription revenue thereby expanding their digital business footprint.
“Adobe is committed to helping our publishing customers transform and grow their businesses by creating opportunities to attract a profitable base of readers, customers and advertisers in the mobile space,” said Todd Teresi, vice president and general manager, Media Solutions, Adobe. “Digital Publishing Suite allows global publishers and business customers to extend the reach of their content on all major tablet devices and through supporting online market places which now include Amazon.com, Apple App Store, Android Market and BlackBerry App World.”
Digital Publishing Suite enables publishers to create content that can be purchased from Amazon.com and consumed not only on the Amazon Kindle Fire but on any other Android device including the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab. This will allow organizations to efficiently publish content once for the Kindle Fire, distribute it to a variety of Android devices without taxing their publishing workflow, while gaining the benefit of additional content reach. Additionally, publishers can leverage Digital Publishing Suite to create a branded Content Viewer for the Kindle Fire that supports full-screen viewing of content without the standard navigation bar, which is always visible on most other Android devices to deliver a highly immersive experience.
Global publishers are immediately taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the Amazon Kindle Fire and supported by Digital Publishing Suite. Now available on the Kindle Fire are publications from both Reader’s Digest and Condé Nast. Built with Digital Publishing Suite, these iconic titles include Reader’s Digest, Allure, Traveler, The New Yorker, Wired, Glamour, Golf Digest, Vanity Fair, Self and GQ. These titles continue to provide a highly engaging and informative reading experience on the Kindle Fire device as they do on other devices such as the Apple iPad.
“The opportunity to offer Condé Nast titles on the Amazon Kindle Fire supports our goal to reach readers wherever they are with our distinct, award-winning content,” said Monica Ray, executive vice president of consumer marketing, Condé Nast. “Amazon has a very savvy customer base that embraces digital content and Adobe Digital Publishing Suite makes it possible for us to deliver a rich, immersive digital experience that will engage and excite them and keep them coming back for more.”
“Our focus at Reader’s Digest is to expand our content across multiple media platforms to provide consumers content when they want it and where they want it,” said Marilynn Jacobs, vice president, general manager, Reader’s Digest. “We are the best-selling magazine on the Kindle, and our goal is to achieve that same level of success on the Kindle Fire with our new app, created with the help of Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.”
