Advanced Publishing, Saint John, New Brunswick, has launched its Digital Anywhere version as a complement to its RIDE (Rich Interactive Digital Edition) offering. Not a plug-in, the Digital Anywhere version is designed to ensure access by every digital reader to a full-featured digital edition of a newspaper or magazine.
“Corporate- or government-based readers are often precluded from downloading plug-ins (like Silverlight or Flash), and some readers still use older computers that may not support rich Internet applications like RIDE,” Advanced Publishing CEO Trish Connolly said in a statement. “We also wanted to make sure that we were able to maintain the fantastic image quality and feature-rich offering that our RIDE version offers, and Digital Anywhere has exceeded our expectations.”
Advanced Publishing plans to offer the dual version to existing customers in coming weeks, automatically providing the added feature, with no price change anticipated.
The system will automatically detect a reader’s computer limitations and offer a choice only to those readers with system capacity to choose between RIDE and Digital Anywhere, according to Connolly. After readers make a selection, they are automatically presented with their selected version.
Advanced Publishing provides a turnkey service that enables print-media publishers to provide and manage rich interactive digital editions for Web-based delivery to readers and subscribers. The company also provides a complete digital communications service via the Engage platform that enables publishers to create, deliver, and manage all forms of e-mail communications to readers.
