Mike Burlingame has been named senior director, consumer sales and retention at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In his new role, Burlingame will provide strategic and operational leadership for a team of more than 250 employees in circulation sales. He will report to Robert Eickhoff, senior vice president of operations.
Most recently, Burlingame was director of circulation sales and marketing at The Seattle Times Co., which operates the Seattle Times and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Both newspapers reported increases in circulation on the last two Audit Bureau of Circulations Publisher’s Statements.
Prior to working at the Seattle Times, Burlingame was vice president of circulation at The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. He also served as the top circulation executive at the former Knight Ridder papers in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and State College, Pa.
“The AJC is fortunate to have someone of Mike’s leadership, experience and vision joining us as we continue focusing on consumer acquisition and retention, newspaper in education programs, retail promotions, mechanizing, and client relations,” Eickhoff said in a statement.
