The Akron (Ohio) Beacon Journal has formed a partnership with Monster.com for online recruitment.

The paper is the third large metro to join Monster, a rival of CareerBuilder.com, jointly owned by Tribune, Gannett, and McClatchy. The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News struck a partnership with Monster this summer.

“This alliance further illustrates Monster’s commitment to accelerate our business by creating alliances that drive local market share,” said Peter Newton, senior vice president and general manager SMB at Monster, in a statement. “These alliances will reinforce Monster’s local presence, enabling more personalization with our customers in key markets across the country.”

The Beacon Journal and Monster will launch a co-branded recruitment Web site in November covering the Cleveland market.

The Beacon Journal was once part of CareerBuilder when Knight Ridder owned the paper. Black Press bought the paper after McClatchy put the Beacon Journal up for sale after the Knight Ridder acquisition.
