Yaser Bishr, Al Jazeera’s global executive director of digital media, has had to navigate a challenging path over the past few months.

His bipartite task was first to create something new for Al Jazeera, and then to play a role in shutting down Al Jazeera America, a satellite television news channel that was dying in a fast-changing marketplace.
