The former head of the Miami Herald advertising department is coming back to the paper. On June 3 it was announced that Alex Villoch, senior vice president of advertising for the Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald, was leaving to become CEO of the Zoological Society of Florida.
In an e-mail to staff, Miami Herald Publisher David Landsberg said Villoch has decided to come back to the Herald and take up her former post. Villoch reconsidered her position at the Zoological Society in the “past few days,” Landsberg wrote.
“Alex herself is the best one to express the reason for the change. In her words: ‘Our mission in the community is one I deeply believe in, and our audience reach places us in a unique position. This is a combination that spells success for the future, and I want to be part of getting us there,'” according to the e-mail.
Villoch worked in the airline industry, most recently as general manager of United, before joining the Herald in 2000 as national advertising director.
