‘Alice Echo-News Journal’ Halves its Publishing Days

By: E&P Staff

The Alice (Texas) Echo-News Journal is halving the amount of its publishing days, beginning in July.

The Echo-News Journal currently publishes six days a week. Beginning July 2, that will be reduced to three days a week: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings, in a new tabloid format. Its online version will continue publishing daily.

Founded in 1894, the Echo-News has a daily circulation of approximately 4,351. It is owned by American Consolidated Media.

“As I am sure you are aware, the publishing landscape for newspapers has changed much in the past few years, especially recently,” Publisher Tony Morris wrote in his newspaper’s June 9 edition. “We in Alice have not been immune to that change as we continue to look toward the future and prepare to ensure the Alice Echo-News Journal remains a strong vital voice for the communities we serve.”
