As part of its “Summer Games Plus” premium package of Olympic coverage, the Associated Press will offer USA Basketball star Dwyane Wade’s behind-the-scenes text and video diary of this summer’s Games.
“The AP gives me a great opportunity to share my Olympic experience with fans on various platforms,? Wade said in a statement. ?I plan to enjoy the Olympics and I hope everyone enjoys reading and watching video about my journey.”
The first of Wade’s videos is already available to Summer Games Plus subscribers. In it, the Miami Heat guard describes his preparations for the Olympics: “Since the first week of May, I?ve been in the gym five days a week ? of training, of rehabbing, of getting my conditioning back, of getting my exposure back ? I?m feeling good and I?m ready to go.?
Summer Games Plus is the AP’s premium package of Olympics coverage available to readers of many national newspapers and Web Sites, including The New York Times. Last year, AP and NBC reached an agreement that allowed AP to embed NBC video links in AP stories soon after the events take place.
?From podcasts in Chinese and English and interactive graphics to our strong tradition of breaking news and stellar photography, we want to provide a diverse array of material,” Lou Ferrera, AP’s managing editor for sports, entertainment and multimedia, said in a statement.
