APN Cuts Newspapers, Adds Digital Editions

By: Jordan Chong | Sydney Morning Herald

APN News and Media says two regional newspapers will close, while two others will cut back publication and deliver more news online.

The company says the moves, which will result in the loss of 35 jobs and help lower costs, are in response to shifting consumer needs and the growing importance of digital news and information.

Newspapers in the Gold Coast-Tweed Heads region, as well as on the NSW mid-north coast, are affected by the changes.
