Next Media’s full-color Apple Daily has ordered six Goss Universal 70 four-high press towers and five Universal 50 four-high towers from Goss International. The new towers will be added to its six Universal 70 presses in Taiwan and five Universal 50 presses in Hong Kong, increasing page and color capacity in both locations.
The largest Goss Universal customer, Apple Daily has printed its flagship Hong Kong edition on Universal 50 presses for more than 10 years.
The visually striking newspaper exploits the presses’ ability to print color on every page. The Taiwan and Hong Kong editions won the “Asia Best in Print” award (singlewide category) at last year’s PANPA conference.
When Apple Daily added printing in Taiwan in 2002, it chose the two-around Universal 70 over the one-around Universal 50 “to meet the unique demands of the Taiwan advertising market,” according to Goss.
