Apple News got plenty of buzz when it launched a year ago. But for publishers, another feature on Apple devices became a bit hit: the “news” section on the “Spotlight” search screen.
Users can access that screen by swiping left from the home screen on iOS devices. It features links to articles by a selection of Apple publishing partners.
A lot of people clicked on those links, and publishers were thrilled with that traffic boost. Indeed, some publishers say traffic to their sites via Spotlight has actually outpaced traffic to Apple News content.
