Mohave Valley Daily News Requests Police Investigation’s Report
The city of Bullhead City, Ariz., has filed a lawsuit against the Mohave Valley Daily News
in hopes of blocking the paper’s request for the release of a 2,000-page Sheriff’s
department report on an investigation into the city’s police department, The Associated
The Daily News formally requested the report on March 7 along with requests from Police
Chief Glenn Walp and the Bullhead City Bee.
City Attorney Paul Lenkowsky sued the Daily News on April 7. Lenkowsky told the AP that
only the Daily News was named since only one defendant is needed to get a judge’s ruling.
The Sheriff’s department investigation was based on allegations made by Councilwoman D’Arcy
Downs-Vollbracht who accused the police of an improper investigation into her background.
The police looked into her background when she questioned an officer’s handling of a police
dog that nearly died when left in a backyard last summer.
