David Stoeffler has been named editor and publisher of the Arizona Daily Star.

Stoeffler has served as Lee Enterprises’ vice president for news in Davenport, Iowa, since October 2001. He will continue in that capacity.

The promotion was announced shortly after Lee completed its $1.46 billion acquisition of the Star’s parent company, Pulitzer Inc.

Stoeffler also previously served as editor of the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal Star. He succeeds Jane Amari, who is resigning to pursue work as a newspaper industry consultant.
