(AP) The Arizona Daily Star told its readers on Tuesday that it will no longer accept letters to the editor sent by mail because of anthrax concerns.
“We all know that the threat of being exposed to anthrax is small. We all want to stick to our routines and not give in to fear. But because media have been targeted with these attacks, we are concerned about our newsroom employees,” Jane Amari, the editor and publisher, said in published statement.
Instead of mailing in letters and information about upcoming events, Amari asked readers to use e-mail, fax, or an online calendar.
“We also invite you to bring letters and news releases to any Star office; just don’t put them in envelopes,” Amari said.
