Journalism, particularly local journalism, has already suffered under GateHouse rule, so how much worse can it get (although probably shouldn’t ask that, as I’m afraid of the answer)? Journalists have lost jobs and coverage has suffered under GateHouse control. But this merger creates a little hope that there could be an upturn with Gannett’s leadership and support. Fingers crossed – hopefully not wishful thinking!
