Publisher Ketan Gandhi of the Home News Tribune in East Brunswick , N.J. has left his post and is being temporarily replaced by William “Skip” Hidlay, executive editor of the neighboring Asbury Park Press in Neptune, N.J.
Gannett, which owns both dailies, confirmed that Gandhi, who had been in the job less than a year, had left, but offered no other details. Hidlay will remain in his Press editor post, but no timeline has been given for a replacement for Gandhi.
“It is a personnel matter and we don?t discuss personnel matters,” said Gannett spokeswoman Tara Connell.
Hidlay could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Home News Tribune Executive Editor Charles Paolino declined to comment. “It has only been two days,” said Paolino, top editor since 2004.
Word of the changes first arose when Hidlay’s name and new acting title were added to the Home News Tribune Web site, prompting speculation on a blog that follows Gannett issues.
