AT&T Wants to Own a Media Company — Here’s Who They Could Buy

Is AT&T trying to transform into a media and advertising company? Executives in the industry tell CNBC that there has been extensive chatter on the topic all year, with some going so far as to say the telecom giant might make a move sooner than later.

AT&T is mum about its plans, and declined to comment for this story. But strategically, analysts say it makes sense, and — with cash and cash equivalents of $7.2 billion according to its Q2 earnings —such a decision is well within their capability. (The New York Post reported a similar rumor earlier in the year.)

Up until this year I would have said that would be a good thing. But I have had AT&T Broadband only for 7 uninterrupted years with AT&T. This past year their service has literally dropped BELOW any standards! I have even entertained dropping AT&T and using COMCAST ! And that is still on my list. I am in the process of buying land in another State and I will do without internet if AT&T was the ONLY server in the area. In the past year they have DOUBLED my bill and I have changed nothing ! But they have ! I had unlimited data for 6 years, all of a sudden I was put on a Set Data plan. And I never talked to anyone. When I finally did, and said if they dont put my plan back to what I had chosen, I would FIRE them ! They just basically said ” Oh Well, We are sorry to see you go..” . . WHAT?
I would dread a company like this getting into the Media Field with this New World Order attitude. Yea . . good luck with THAT! ;}~
