By: E&P Staff

Japanese newspaper publishers placed orders last month worth approximately $1.7 million with Baldwin Technology Co., Shelton, Conn.

Two of three significant orders were for retrofits in printing plants. Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka ordered Baldwin blanket-cleaning systems to replace a competitor’s brush cleaning system on its TKS press at its Ibaraki plant. Delivery is slated for November.

Yamagata Shimbun will replace a competitor’s spray dampening system with Baldwin equipment on its Goss Newsliner presses next February. A “local” newspaper, Yamagata Shimbun circulates 210,000 copies.
