Bartash Printing Inc., Philadelphia-based printer of newspapers, magazines, niche publications and freestanding inserts, will buy its next press line from Tensor Group, Woodridge, Ill.
A Web Offset Association multiple-award winner for exceptional print quality, and one of Tensor Group’s largest U.S. customers, Bartash will substantially increase productivity with three four-high towers and a folder. When the new press is installed in fall, the plant will house 58 Tensor T-1400 units and five H-50 folders.
The new units are enhanced with brush dampening, Essex Products Group KeyColor remote ink-control systems, and QI Press Controls closed-loop color-to-color and cutoff controls. Standard Electric will provide the press drives and operating console.
In 2009, Bartash upgraded existing equipment with EPG and QIPC controls, along with improvements in prepress systems, yielding efficiencies that include less waste and more plant capacity. The new units will match current capabilities. The H-50 folder can cross perforate and will have a gluer for niche products. A quarter folder will serve specialty advertising jobs.
Besides its specialty in color printing and variable-data imaging, Bartash offers fulfillment and distribution, Response Oriented Inserts, which leverages a publication’s demographics and circulation into increased ad revenue, and electronic editions.
