Mittelbayerisches Druckzentrum (Middle Bavarian Printing Center) in Regensburg, Germany, contracted with manroland subsidiary ppi Media to install its printnet OM output management solution in a new production center equipped with manroland Colorman XXL presses and automatic plate loading (APL).

The presses’ automation and the future physical separation of the publisher and printer drove the Mittelbayerische Zeitung to adopt printnet OM, which automates raster image processing, imaging, production monitoring and proofing, adjusting the processes as needed, especially for APL.

In order to produce newspapers efficiently, there will be a clearly defined transition of responsibility in prepress between the publishing house and the printing center. The former uses printnet OM to deliver files with proofed content to the printing center, where automated computer-to-plate output management is carried out according to the printing-time sequence and the requirements of APL technology (sequence for automatic plate loading).
