Belo announced today that its newspaper advertising revenue for the month of May grew 1.5% compared to the same period last year.
At The Dallas Morning News total revenue slipped 1.1%. The Providence Journal recorded a 4.2% increase in total revenue. Total revenue at The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., grew 7.5%.
Advertising revenue at the Morning News dropped 2.5%. Retail full run ROP revenue was down 2.5%. Retail linage decreased 2.6%. General full run ROP revenue was also down 6.4% with significant drops in the travel and financial services categories. General ROP volume was up 5.8%. Classified revenue at the paper declined 6.6% with a 4.5% drop in volume. Within the classified category, recruitment and real estate revenue were up 6.5% and 5.5% respectively. Auto revenue experienced a dramatic drop, down 25.1%.
Ad revenue at the Providence Journal advanced 6.7% and at the Press-Enterprise it grew 10.9%.
