Pending local and state permits and an environmental review, QBJ Land Development, developer for BJ’s Wholesale Club, agreed to buy the plant owned by The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, Mass.

“It’s our expectation that the transaction will move forward,” GateHouse Media New England Chief Operating Officer and Patriot Ledger Publisher Richard Daniels told his paper. No purchase price was disclosed, but eight or nine serious offers were considered, according to Daniels. “It really didn’t require much of a push to get good offers on it,” he said.

Used to print the paper since the 1960s, the 36,000-square-foot printing and distribution facility on 7.5 acres has been on the market since October, when the Patriot Ledger and The Enterprise of Brockton moved printing to the Boston Globe’s Dorchester plant.

The old printing equipment is being removed from the plant, and Daniels said the company is looking at other area properties for its delivery.
