An Ontario Superior Court of Justice judge ordered Peter White, a longtime business associate of Conrad Black, removed from the board of directors of Hollinger Inc., effective immediately, the company said late Wednesday.
White was the last remaining link on the Hollinger board to its former chairman and CEO, Black. Last November, Black resigned from those posts and as a director as part of a failed attempt to take private Hollinger Inc., a holding company whose principal asset is an 18% equity stake and 68% voting share in Hollinger International, the publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times and other Chicago area dailies and community papers.
Hollinger Inc. had asked the court for White’s removal. Last month, it fired him as a consultant.
