‘Boondocks’ TV Show Returns Oct. 8 for a Second Season

“The Boondocks” TV series will return for a second season starting Oct. 8, according to an AOL Black Voices blog post spotted by The Daily Cartoonist blog .

Fifteen episodes are slated to run through January 2008 as part of the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming lineup.

Regina King is back as the voice of brothers Huey and Riley Freeman, while John Witherspoon continues to play “Granddad.” Guest voices will be provided by people such as Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Mo’Nique, Tavis Smiley, Mos Def, Cedric the Entertainer, and many others.

The animated series is based on “The Boondocks” comic strip, which Aaron McGruder did for Universal Press Syndicate from 1999 until he ended the feature last year. It appeared in about 250 newspapers.

McGruder is executive producer of the TV show.
