Boston.com is adding MetaCarta services to its Web site to provide geographic search.
MetaCarta will tag all Boston.com content by geography as well as information from other Web sites so that users will be able to search by location.
“Our agreement with MetaCarta will help us bring our readers more relevant news and information by being able to zero in on locations that matter to them,” Bob Kempf, vice president of product at Boston.com, said in a statement. “We are committed to positioning content and offering functionality in ways that meet the needs of our audience and advertisers.”
MetaCarta, based in Cambridge, Mass., takes “unstructured” content and organizes it by location.
