The Boston Globe launched a new Style & Arts section today emphasizing home, fitness, shopping, and entertainment. Style & Arts runs every Thursday in the Globe.
Style & Arts will replace the Thursday Living/Arts and Life at Home sections. The daily Living/Arts will continue to appear throughout the rest of the week.
Style & Arts is headed up by Fiona Luis, assistant managing editor for features.
The change comes amidst cuts in the newsroom when the Globe’s parent company, The New York Times Co., announced 32 positions would be eliminated in the editorial department through a series of buyouts.
According to a report in The Boston Phoenix, five staffers in the Living/Arts section took the buyout in November, including rock critic Steve Morse, theater critic Ed Siegel, classical-music critic Richard Dyer, pop-culture columnist and critic Ren?e Graham, and arts writer Maureen Dezell.
