Boston Globe Media is introducing a new compact lifestyle magazine aimed at women called Lola.
Free of charge, the magazine will be available at some 800 locations throughout Boston in mid-November. Lola will go monthly in January 2008.
“Created as a trusted friend for women, Lola will be informing, entertaining, and inspiring,” Lucy Bartholomay, managing director of product innovation at The Boston Globe, said in a statement. “She’ll have plenty to say about local restaurants and shopping as well as healthy living, relationships, things to do and think about.”
Boston Globe Magazine Senior Assistant Editor Susanne Althoff will serve as Lola’s consulting editorial director.
The Globe plans to distribute 45,000 copies of Lola in cafes, bookstores, salons, day-care centers, and other places targeting women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
Lola is Boston Globe Media’s third niche publication along with Design New England and Fashion Boston.
