Joe Sciacca has been named editor-in-chief of the Boston Herald.
Sciacca most recently was managing editor for the print edition and bostonherald.com. A veteran of the newsroom, he joined the Herald in1983 and has served as chief of its City Hall and State House bureaus, a political and investigative reporter, political editor and columnist, and deputy managing editor/news.
He succeeds Kevin R. Convey, who is leaving after more than three years at the helm to become editor of New York’s Daily News.
“Joe’s energy, enthusiasm and creativity — coupled with his flat-out smarts — make him a terrific choice to manage our news business and provide readers with a great product every day,” Herald Publisher Patrick J. Purcell told his paper.
