The Record (N.J.) announced Thursday that Frank Burgos has been named managing editor of the newspaper. Burgos is a veteran journalist, and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist while working at the Philadelphia Daily News. Burgos? new responsibilities as managing editor will include the supervision of the newsroom operations and the staff of 230 reporters, editors, photographers, and designers. According to The Record, he will begin work as managing editor in mid-August.
Burgos began work at the Philadelphia Daily News in 1996. He served as editorial page editor and, most recently, as media editor in charge of Internet operations.
His newspaper career began in 1984 after his graduation from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He worked at such publications as the Dallas Times-Herald, the Miami Herald, and the Chicago Sun-Times.
Ironically, it was The Record that was his first choice for work upon his journalism school graduation in 1984, but he wasn?t hired at the time.
