California Newspaper Bomb Victim Improves Slightly

An 85-year-old Vacaville man’s condition has improved slightly, but he is still hospitalized in serious condition after having his right pinkie finger nearly blown off Sunday by a bomb wrapped in a newspaper, authorities said Tuesday.

Jose Sanchez-Zarco was injured when he picked up a newspaper in a green plastic bag on the lawn between his house and a neighbor’s and a small bomb within it exploded.
