With police SWAT team members outside, a man called the local newspaper to say he wasn’t threatening anyone and only had held a gun to his head in jest.

The man contacted the newsroom of the Reporter late Tuesday afternoon to say he wouldn’t leave his home or let the SWAT team inside.

Police apparently had been contacted because someone thought he might harm himself after breaking up with a girlfriend.

“I held a gun to my head, totally in jest,” the man said as SWAT members waited outside.

“The gun was not loaded,” he said. “I am fine. I am logical. I have done nothing wrong.”

The incident ended peacefully about 7:30 p.m.
