Bill Watterson has never wanted to animate his now-retired “Calvin and Hobbes” comic, but a student in Italy has done it — and the film is posted on YouTube with English subtitles.

The animated short has received many positive comments on the video-sharing site, where it has been viewed nearly 18,000 times. It was also mentioned today on The Comics Reporter and The Comics Journal blogs, and cited on CartoonBrew.com as well.
