The Los Angeles Times is reportedly bringing back “Candorville” to its daily paper starting Monday and to its Sunday paper early next month.
This is according to an e-mail sent by the Times to “Candorville” fans, one of whom forwarded the message to E&P late yesterday afternoon. A Times feature editor phoned yesterday could not be reached to confirm the reinstatement and explain why the comic is returning.
“Candorville,” by Darrin Bell of the Washington Post Writers Group, had been dropped by the Times this winter along with several other comics. One of those strips, “La Cucaracha” by Lalo Alcaraz of Universal Press Syndicate, was reinstated in March after reader complaints.
